Community
As a school, we participate in many community events, Brighton Festival being one of them. This is a great experience for all those who take part, full of colour and a wonderful atmosphere. Other events include, “Lets Dance” (the biggest children’s dance festival in the UK), the Christmas Concert at the Brighton Center, The Brighton and Hove athletics competition at Withdean stadium and “Run the World”.
We also have links with a number of local churches, the local community library and our school premises are open to the community for several lettings including the Patcham Silver Band, Patcham United football and others. We work closely with other local schools and come together for many events, such as our recent “Pat – chums” project during anti-bullying week where children from across the community contributed to a ‘friendship town’ which was constructed in the High School hall.
We celebrate key national and international events through themed days, weeks and even terms. For example we recently studied Brazil during the World Cup. We endeavour to engage our pupils wherever possible to develop their awareness of cultural diversity. Our children organise regular charity events to raise money for local and international projects such as sponsoring a community in Africa. Our Brazil topic culminated in an exhibition which was attended by many members of the local community.
We are always keen to be involved with community projects and regularly have visitors, so if you would like to find out more, please contact the school office.
